The role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team in Cambridge. In this challenging role, you will be leading a team to successfully implement and delivery of large/complex projects and manage the delivery of small to medium sized non complex projects reporting to a Director.
Key Activities and Responsibilities include:
You will be developing project programmes, managing clients and project teams, developing project protocols and generally working to deliver the project on time, to budget and to the desired quality.
Activities and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Establish /assist in developing project control systems.
  • Report /assist in reporting to the client.
  • Lead and chair /arrange meetings and produce minutes. Deputize as chair as required.
  • Prepare project programmes and monitor the project in line with those programmes.
  • Monitor project costs in line with the approved budget.
  • Manage key project issues.
  • Manage/assist in managing consultants and contractors.
  • Develop and maintain a risk register.
  • Administer/assist in the delivery of contract administration services.
  • Manage the project change control process.
Skills and experience - successful candidates must:
  • Educated to at least degree level or equivalent in a construction related subject
  • Minimum 2 years post qualification experience
  • Show commitment to developing a career within Project Management
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Be Confident, energetic and an ambitious self starter
  • Have the ability to meet tight deadlines and to work under pressure
  • Demonstrate well developed IT skills along with high levels of numeracy and literacy

Working in this role will involve supporting senior team members in the delivery of high quality cost and procurement consultancy for internal and external clients across the retail sector. It will see the successful candidate progressively taking increasing ownership of pre and post contract project service delivery to produce positive outcomes for our clients.
Key responsibilities will include -
  • Undertaking the preparation of simple cost plans and estimates and contribute to the development of more complex pieces of work under supervision
  • Contributing to the preparation of tender documentation
  • Measurement of drawings
  • Assisting in the tendering and procurement of contractors for projects

The London PM team is 30 strong close knit team, working within a global organisation, and with real chance to work on varied and exciting and projects from day one.

Working in the role will involve a full PM service across our range of sectors including commercial, residential, retail, health, education and rail. You will be responsible for helping to grow a diverse and expanding client list. It is essential that you have significant knowledge of pre and post contract project management in construction, property real estate sector, gained within a consultancy environment. For this role you must have strong commercial experience and good exposure to major projects. You will be expected to manage direct reports and have the skills and experience to do so. Sweett Group is currently recruiting an Estimator to be based in York. This is a key role working on Infrastructure Rail projects in York, providing skilled estimating input to a team developing cost estimates and analysis for various Rail projects in the Yorkshire region.
We are a global construction and property consultancy, specialising in QS and PM services.
Working in this role will involve preparing deliverables for and participating in cost reviews of estimates. Developing cost estimates using a range of data including an awareness of BIM and the Rail Method of Measurement, and being aware of the roles played by other disciplines on projects and proposals. You must have knowledge and awareness of the concept of risk and uncertainty and how these affect the probability of achieving a sound cost estimate.
Required Skills:
  • Proficient at undertaking work measurement using quantity surveying skills or similar techniques and be capable of undertaking a first principles estimate
  • Capable of preparing resource estimates and plans. Able to generate and use statistical data from differing cost sources
  • Knowledge of commercial contracts and how supply chains work in the delivery of projects
  • Capable of accessing and interpreting economic information and cost indexes, using basic inflationary techniques
  • Confidently communicate the results of their work in both written and oral forms
  • Ability to challenge colleagues in a constructive manner in order to achieve positive outcomes
  • Establishes plans and milestones to ensure that the right things get done
  • Presents information and ideas in language that is easy to understand
  • Communicates in a clear, complete and articulate manner
The successful candidate will hold a Degree or equivalent experience or achieved NVQ Level 4 in project management. You will have experience in high value, complex type estimating such as civils, engineering construction, railways or mechanical/electrical and be chartered or working towards Corporate membership of the RICS, ACostE, ICES or similar relevant professional association
