International Distribution Clerk

The International Distribution Clerk acts as shipper of record for international shipments and is responsible for picking, processing, and shipping customer orders designated as international by performing the following duties:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Wave, pick, and process orders designated as international (sold and shipped outside the United States) using warehouse systems and equipment. 
  • Check outbound shipments for SKU and quantity irregularities. Compare with shipping documents to verify accuracy. 
  • Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of outgoing shipments to verify information against shipping orders or other records. 
  • Fax and/or scan documents to carriers, departments and internal systems; schedule shipments with carriers who do not have daily pickups; forward documents to Accounting for billing. 
  • Estimate outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications 
  • Maintain International Training Guide; update with carrier information and shipping guidelines for countries as they change; maintain phone numbers for carriers so pickups can be scheduled; coordinate future shipments with Sales. 
  • Answer any internal questions regarding international shipments. 
  • Verify that materials are marked with identifying information. 
  • Maintain packing materials for International Shipping area; maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies. 
  • Estimate weight and packaging of future shipments so freight costs can be determined. 
  • Back up Distribution Supervisor for equipment work requests and waving domestic orders; back up domestic shipping and fill in when needed. 
Required Basic Qualifications:
  • 4-5 years of international shipping experience 
  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Familiarity with US export requirements 
  • Detail orientation with excellent organizational skills 
  • Ability to learn and select appropriate work procedures for several diversified tasks 
  • Ability to initiate corrective action or to seek supplemental direction as required 
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds
